While it is amazing that they are visiting so many great places and making incredible memories, it is still sad to have them away from home for so long. At the start of 2025, Lily and her best friend took off on their backpacking trip that would see them travelling across Asia for around six months. Their families were excited for the pair to undertake such a big trip, but were also sad to see them leaving for so long. When the pair were set to return in July, Lily’s mum began planning a ‘welcome home’ party that was sure to be a lot of fun! Hog Roast Eyam was hired to cater for the occasion, with our manager Martin tasked with serving a hearty and filling menu with a classily British taste. He knew that our hog roast menu would be perfect for the occasion and would be the perfect meal for the travellers to enjoy after a long flight home.
In preparation for the party, the Hog Roast Eyam team planned to arrive at the venue in the morning and get to work on preparing our menu. We began by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that it could cook to perfection for around five hours. Once ready, the succulent pork was expertly carved and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. Additionally, we served homemade chips, gourmet coleslaw, and a green leaf salad, to ensure that our menu was varied and nutritious.
