Right as the title says, today at Hog Roast Beeley we are debating the hot topic of which is the better Christmas roast – ham or turkey? While of course the traditional dish is the golden bird, we can’t help but have a lot of love for the simpler but delicious roast ham at Christmas. Now we may look biased seeing as we are Hog Roast Beeley, but that is why we want to have the debate with you, our customers, as we want to see what is most looked forward to in our special festive menus at your events.
We cannot deny that the roast turkey is Christmas, and Christmas is a roast turkey, but the ham also has its rightful place on Christmas table. Often it will come in conjunction with the turkey, other times it might be there to replace it. Both options are entirely viable with Hog Roast Beeley’s festive menu, too. Since are known predominantly for our signature hog roasts, a lot of customers will often opt for the hog roast specifically, over the turkey.
But our Christmas turkey also comes with plenty of quality to it as well. Much like how we go about our pork roasts in a slightly different style to the norm, our festive turkeys are also cooked in an alternative fashion – a staple of how we do things always at Hog Roast Beeley. Thanks to our immense hog roasting machines, we are able to add rotisserie cooking for white meats to our repertoire. That means expertly made rotisserie chickens during summer, and juicy rotisserie turkeys come Christmas. In this style, the old stereotype of dry Christmas turkeys is barely even a possibility as the turning action of the rotisserie roaster keeps the white nice and succulent right the way throughout for even better tenderness and flavour.
With both options, we also have our own homemade sage and onion stuffing which is another must for any festive menu. You’re not losing out on the stuffing with either option, but with our hog roast you will also get our golden, bubbling crackling too, if that sways your vote!
Perhaps the right answer is just that you can have both on your festive menu, but we want to hear from you! Let us know what takes the crown roast on your Christmas menu!
