Mertrux, East Midlands’ leading Mercedes-Benz and FUSO commercial vehicle dealership, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary by hosting a weekend-long event in Donnington Park.
Nicknamed Convoy In The Park, the two-day celebration welcomed customers, both new and old, to witness a mind-blowing display of Mercedes-Benz trucks and take part in an exciting race simulator experience with Go Race Events, which doubled as a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, with 100% of proceeds going straight to the charity. What’s more, the person with the fastest lap was gifted a Mercedes-Benz model truck worth over £600! And with free children’s temporary tattoos and plenty of stalls to tour, there was something for every age group to enjoy.
Of course, every busy event needs to have some great grub to keep the guests’ energy levels up, too, and tasked with providing the delicious meal on both days of Mertrux’s event was our team from Hog Roast Derby.
During her initial call with us week’s prior to the Convoy In The Park celebration, the showroom’s marketing manager, Chloe, had given our catering manager, Martin, some very clear direction for the menu, which needed to suit the tastes of all the guests and include a meat-free option for vegetarians and vegans. With 100 people set to attend on each day of the function, Hog Roast Derby had the perfect menu in mind: our Southern Slow Roast, which offers a hearty selection of barbequed meats and luscious side options, as well as a tasty meatless dish!
Chloe was so pleased with our recommendation and was even happier when our team surpassed all expectations on both days of Mertrux’s party.
Under cloudy, grey skies, Martin and the rest of the team worked their aprons off all morning to prepare what turned out to be an absolutely exquisite feast of BBQ pork butt, Texan 24 hour beef brisket, Cajun-spiced whole roast chickens and grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers with inclusive sides of seasonal green leaf salad, potato salad and mixed fries. The food was served to guests using our environmentally-friendly crockery and matching cutlery, and with so many flavours to choose from, everyone felt well taken care of, thanks to Hog Roast Derby!
