When Roxanne and her beau, Reece, announced that they were going to be getting married outside in December, their friends and family all thought they were barking mad!
”What if it rains? Or worse, snows – it’ll be freezing!” they cried.
But the couple’s minds couldn’t be changed. And they, quite rightly, pointed out that in Britain, you never really know what the weather has in store – no matter what month you get married in! Not only that, but the presence of snow at a wedding is quite a mystical thing to experience and adds an air of festive romance that just wouldn’t be possible during the summer months.
In the end, though, it didn’t actually end up snowing – much to the guests’ delight! How do we know this? Why because Hog Roast Matlock was there to keep everybody warm from within with our iconic Hog Roast Dining Menu. Composed of two main meat options, a veggie/vegan alternative, and several scrumptious sides, including classic Caesar salad, gourmet coleslaw, dauphinoise potatoes and salt and pepper-seasoned fresh market vegetables, this splendid feast is the most popular pre-set menu we have available. It’s used at all sorts of events throughout the year, and for Reece and Roxanne’s big day, it was especially perfect.
With it being their wedding day, the couple had asked us to tweak the menu ever so slightly to include a wedding cake service and a pair of delicious dessert options. They had also requested to hire dining furniture and a marquee from Hog Roast Matlock for the event, which was no trouble at all.
While it didn’t snow on the day, it was very cold, so Hog Roast Matlock arrived at the striking venue a tad earlier than usual as the temperature can affect how long the meat takes to cook. Just in time for the wedding party’s midday arrival at the frozen lake-side spot, our crew had managed to rustle up a gorgeous spread that consisted of a traditional hog roast, free-range turkey and sides, followed by chocolate torte and light and fluffy cheesecake.
Reece and Roxanne’s wedding was truly spectacular, and the combination of the idyllic vistas, great food and cosy marquee meant that by the end of the day, the guests had warmed to the idea of winter weddings – literally!
