Recently, Hog Roast Melbourn had the pleasure of participating in a spring craft fair hosted by a nearby church in the hopes of raising money for charity, and what an event it turned out to be! The fair showcased the incredible talents of local crafters, offering an array of handmade treasures ranging from ceramics and original artwork to jewellery and homemade preserves. With free entry and a diverse selection of goods, it’s no wonder the event drew such a large crowd of eager attendees! As guests browsed the booths, indulging in tombola excitement and sampling the delights of the home-baked goods stall, they realised they were in for an even bigger treat when they made their way to Hog Roast Melbourn’s kiosk. Under the expert guidance of catering manager Martin, our team whipped up a crowd-pleasing hog roast that stole the show.
Many of the attendees cited that the highlight of the day was watching Martin expertly carve the succulent hog. The theatrical experience added to the event’s entertainment value with each slice. The crispy crackling and tender meat were then carefully placed onto soft gluten-free rolls, accompanied by sage and onion stuffing and tangy applesauce – an unbeatable combination! The aroma alone had guests lining up for a taste, and once they bit into our delectable hog roast sandwiches, they were hooked. Even non-meat-eaters found themselves in culinary bliss with our grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers, served with refreshing tzatziki dip and soft flatbreads. The combination of flavours and textures left everyone satisfied and eager for more.
The success of the event extended beyond just culinary delights; it highlighted the community’s spirit of generosity. Thanks to the efforts of the organisers and the support of attendees, the craft fair raised an impressive £2,000 for children’s charities—a remarkable achievement that Hog Roast Melbourn is proud to have been a part of.
